These two new songs from internationally-based hardcore standbys Gallows are their first since 2012's self-titled album, which reintroduced the band to the world with new vocalist and former Alexisonfire guitarist/current Black Lungs frontman Wade MacNeil. Though now stripped down to a four-piece, the band is clearly doing more with less: "Chains" is one of the heaviest songs in their catalog, an anthemic sledgehammer backed on the B-side by the groovier but equally snarling "Wristslitter". This newest incarnation of the act seems to vaguely parallel the progressive tendencies of contemporaries like Fucked Up and Blacklisted without compromising their core ferociousness and snide, socially aware bite.

Track Name: Chains
North thaws, South disappears, East vanishes, West fades. Cut the love out of my days. You'd see me in chains. North thaws, South disappears, East vanishes, West fades. Draw down the moon and walk away. You'd see me in chains. Don't need another violent summer. I don't need another violent summer. Don't need another violent summer. I don't need another violent summer of sham youth, sham art, sham revolution, sham hearts, sham love, sham death, sham lives, sham sex, sham rock and roll, sham rock and roll, sham rock and roll, sham rock and roll, sham rock and roll, sham rock and roll. North thaws, South disappears, East vanishes, West fades. Draw down the moon and walk away. You'd see me in chains. In chains. You'd see me in chains. In chains. You'd see me in chains. Don't need another violent summer of sham rock and roll, sham rock and roll.
Track Name: Wristslitter
I'm better than this. That's what I used to tell myself. I'm no better than this. I could never be something else. Find a better way. Find a better way. Find a better way, not just something. Find a better way. Find a better way. Find a better way, not just something else. I'll burn it all down. Just so I can start again. And when it's ash on the ground, I can start to make amends. Find a better way. Find a better way. Find a better way, not just something. Find a better way. Find a better way. Find a better way, not just something else. I was totally gone. Fear and circumstance pushed me along. I'm no better than this. I could just as soon slit my wrists. Find a better way. Find a better way. Find a better way, not just something. Find a better way. Find a better way. Find a better way, not just something else.
