they came down from the skies, absolute with power and beady in the eyes. we were all destroyed or forced into submission. your wealth, slavery and genocide in our names didn't do shit. but we still live through it. there will be no sides to take. the ones with the most will lose the most. the ones at the bottom will survive on the scraps. the apocalypse was justified. they came for names, they came for justice. they came for revenge and destruction.

Heavy Burden 01:28
she cringes and her nerves crawl to the surface of her skin. with the sound of a click on the latch of a door she can feel the heavy burden she will be struck down with by a wretched ruined man. stuck in a menacing cycle of abuse fractured boned and bloody nosed from the hands of a wretched ruined man. she still loves him. she tries to block the cutting words and the rage filled closed fists flying towards her face. living life as a slit wrist, bleeding out slowly waiting for a savior to take her from this place. stuck in a menacing cycle of abuse fractured boned and bloody nosed from the hands of a wretched ruined man. she still loves him. she can't stay with him. she's floored by a revelation. she doesn't need him. so she walks away.

assimilate into the roles that we're assigned. it takes a tragedy to understand.. it's us against them. a step forward is a step closer to the end. disappeared bodies from a state of dissent. it's us against them. no tranquillity, no justice. just a race for power and the means to destroy all of us. can't clean the dirty wars, can't see the drones. the world is a battlefield. no more self-righteous explanations of war, it's just the murder of innocence. it's us against them. no tranquillity, no justice. just a race for power and the means to destroy all of us. can't clean the dirty wars, can't see the drones. the world is a battlefield. an administration lies. war crimes and genocide. over-reaching military might with no end in sight. when a child runs to comfort his dying mother.. when a crowd runs to the ruins of a home for cover.. it's us against them.
4.
Only Death 02:45
they will blind, deafen, and destroy you. a constant gulf of tonkin mission to persuade you to align yourself to their view. they make you believe there's nothing that you can do. no sympathy no empathy only death to pigs and rats that bring misery. a future unwritten, a future of despair. these lying motherfuckers keep us living in a state of fear. our youth given nothing to live for they want more than just a constant wage war. no sympathy no empathy only death to pigs and rats that bring misery. only death. we're sick of buying what you're selling.. military industrial complex diseased recruitment officers we've seen enough of these. manufactured flaws in your design, makes it hard to keep living. it's our world that you're killing. no sympathy no empathy only death.

I Am Nothing 03:02
we're terrified of stepping out of our comfort zone a simple observation: we're scared to fail or die we procrastinate and shout to our supporters already emulating our lives. we're just scared of being rejected. we are great pretenders never connecting. i guess you've never seen this side of me. but i hope it helps you see inside of you. we are self important motherfuckers living in the darkness of arrogance. I am nothing, you are nothing. we have to question everything when it comes to our existence. I am nothing, you are nothing. a balance of introspection and retrospect the lust for acceptance and social status the means to an end or a beginning the secret begging, we plead for it all. sometimes I think i'm screaming for nothing just to please my ego, just to comfort myself. am I a selfish fool with nothing to give you? are you agreeing just to fit in? we are self important motherfuckers living in the darkness of arrogance. I am nothing, you are nothing. we have to question everything when it comes to our existence. I am nothing, you are nothing. understand your fear, accept your death. I am nothing, you are nothing. do you have any questions?

fuck the truth you seek no lust for a deity no vengeance for you and me. we light the flame we watch it burn we let it spread into our heads. no one can tell you how to live your life. no one can be the ruler of your mind. I need more than crooked books and blind faith. I want more than just the current state. I live my life in reality so don't push your truth onto me. we light the flame we watch it burn we let it spread into our heads. no one can tell you how to live your life. no one can be the ruler of your mind. I need more than crooked books and blind faith. i want more than just the current state. I live my life in reality. so don't push your truth onto me. I can't reason with outdated minds trying to keep me in fear and standing in their lines. my life is mine.

poisoned the reservoirs and fed us shit from the bottom of their shoes, we're born and raised for war. that suit and tie has us all mesmerized. we're still digging the ditches that they bury us in. you're just a slave to your government. monsanto blankets as a gift for the poor. the screen: a modern amherst handkerchief to poison young minds. we're living in a drone state created to make us all docile and blind. you're left to die by your government. some people say i'm crazy.. others just roll their eyes.. I can't pretend it doesn't hurt.. when i see a loved one denied the chance to see clearly enough to know we're all losing our minds. you're just a slave to your government you're born and raised for war. you're left to die by your government. you're born and raised for war. carbon contaminated future and an mk ultra mind. a life based on debt makes it hard to survive. a life on the knees for special interest groups, think tanks, and their big brother's lies. we're just slaves to our governments.

Clean Boots 02:01
never gonna walk with you never gonna follow the trail of shit that you leave behind. you're telling lies, I see the truth in your eyes. you're selling lives, that suffer just to survive. forced yourself into concrete shoes to play your little street games. you ain't shit, until you've lived through it. you're telling lies, I see the truth in your eyes. you're living lies, yours is a stolen life commodified. growing up without a cause and golden spoon, boy, it must have been tough with your gift filled living rooms. familiarize yourself with other's tales of hardships and take them on as your own, you slowly build, then you make your move. "hey son, you look so far from home."

Late Bloom 02:52
The dim rays of light snuck their way through the cover of clouds. The sun singed face smiles with the joy of a lesser light, open mouthed. The body walks to the nearest shade of a tree in full bloom. An even thicker cover than wished for. Sitting still in mid-stretch to the sky, Seeing the future clear for the first time. A love found without the use of eyes. A blind life without relevance has led us to a downward spiral. A life that is too old to soak in imagery, But young enough to embrace a wonderful breeze and the warmth of the sun's rays. Not all has been lost.

Money Trail 02:36
a loaded gun pointed at our faces keeps our heads down. we'll blindly throw our hands up to keep the damage minimal. "around here, we try to keep our sanity." aged with transparency becoming visible for the world to see. stubborn old men with no conscience just authority. you're just here to protect and serve your money your uniform means nothing to me. boot heels on the back of our heads and mouths full of concrete. our wrists bound and bleeding till they force us to the backseat. undertones of equality and a future filled with emptiness. overtones of a police state in a world becoming loveless. lie and stretch the law to incarcerate and fill up privatized prison systems to capacity. "around here, it's tough to keep our sanity." broken windows policies get the job done at election time profitable and dehumanizing by design. a heavy war for the citizens a system put in place to crush our humanity. we're crushed by the weight but we still try to keep our sanity.

Violent Sons is fronted by Sean Murphy from Verse, the Providence hardcore act who have released four records setting the bar for the modern enhancement of youth crew standards and their own more progressive and yet equally passionate and politically engaged/enraged strain. Also including Raindance drummer Evan White, their 10-song introduction, 'Nothing As It Seems' is a ferocious effort that would imaginably please fans of Verse's ambitious trajectory, and yet, it is completely its own project for much of its blistering 22-minute length. A metallic undercurrent here, a blast beat there, a smoggy atmosphere elsewhere, propulsive, Kurt Ballou-esque riffs at other points—it all makes for a uniquely punchy and multifaceted debut that subtly twists punk's heavier formula into new shapes and colors while retaining Murphy's exasperated, incensed sociopolitical frustrations.
