about

Baltimore's Octaves and Las Vegas, NV's Caravels are excited to announce a 4-song EP, co-released by their respective labels and buddies Bridge Nine and Topshelf Records, to be released this coming January 27th, 2015. This split will be available on vinyl and digital formats and features two new tracks from each band.

Octaves formed in a warehouse in West Baltimore in the Fall of 2008, and released their B9 debut 'Which Way The Wind Blows' in April 2013. The band has since toured the USA with the likes of HORSE the Band, Shai Hulud, and countless others in support of this release. These two new EP tracks mark the first new music since their debut, with more to come soon. They twist and turn through their own brand of fiery and ambitious, contemporary post-hardcore through barked, clever wordplay, spooky left turns, demented waltzes and spastic, brass-accompanied orchestration.

Caravels follow up their pensive 2013 full-length, 'Lacuna', with two more tracks of earthy, enveloping post-hardcore, all effects pedals and clouded brooding. Their two songs roll along tense faultlines with shouted lyrics that exert impossibly firm control over its metaphorical imagery and personality deconstructions. The band will be premiering these shortly before the release in January.
